Where the science of practice meets the art of knowing

The Institute of Integrative Practitioner Formation exists to train practitioners, not just transmit information. It houses a growing body of offerings — beginning with Psychobiology™ — united by a shared conviction: that competent practice is formed, not merely informed. Where most continuing education adds techniques to an existing repertoire, the Institute's programs are built in the paideia tradition, the lineage running through Hadot and Foucault's epimeleia heautou — care of the self as the precondition for care of others.

The Institute's particular commitment is to bring myth, symbol, and other esoteric branches of medicine into serious relationship with clinical rigour — not as decoration on top of evidence-based practice, and not diluted into something merely evidence-based to be accepted. Mechanism and meaning are two different registers of knowing, each legitimate on its own terms. Physiological and clinical claims are held to the discipline of evidence: what is well-established, what is emerging, what is excluded until better evidenced. Myth and symbol are held to a different discipline — coherence, depth, and fidelity to the traditions they come from — and are not asked to justify themselves by evidentiary standards that were never built to hold them. The rigour is in knowing which register you're working in and never mistaking one discipline for the other. The aim is a practitioner who can move fluently between mechanism and meaning without collapsing one into the other or subordinating either to the other.

"Integrative" describes the Institute's architecture rather than any single program's method — it names an institution built to hold multiple distinct practitioner-formation methodologies under one roof, each with its own framework and evidence standards, united by the same formational commitment rather than folded into one methodology.

The Institute serves practicing clinicians, practitioners, and students of life who are seeking a deeper capacity to work with the whole person in front of them.
